Mamta Banerjee defended the dismissed teachers
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is standing in favor of more than 25,000 school teachers and employees, whose appointment was recently canceled by the Supreme Court. The court found serious irregularities in the 2016 recruitment process conducted by West Bengal School Services Commission (WBSSC).
Mamta Banerjee addressed the affected teachers at a large gathering in Kolkata and said that she would not allow the education system to be destroyed. She canceled a targeted attack on Bengal and said she would fight to protect qualified teachers.
Why Only Bengal?
Speaking at Netaji Indoor Stadium in Kolkata, Banerjee compared the situation with other national cases. She mentioned the NEET exam, which faced many allegations, but wasn’t cancelled. “Why is Bengal being targeted?” she asked. “In the Vyapam case in Madhya Pradesh, so many people died. They’ve not received justice yet. But here, you’re punishing thousands.”
She stressed that the court must clarify who among the sacked teachers are actually undeserving. “We’ll accept the court’s order. But the Supreme Court must tell us clearly who’s guilty and who’s not. If not, we’ll find a way,” she said. “You suffer for two months, not for 20 years. I’ll make sure you’re compensated.”

Mamta's response
Mamta Banerjee called the whole situation a conspiracy. He convicted opposition parties like BJP and CPM for trying to destroy the education system of Bengal. He said, "You have found people everywhere, but do not use it to target me. Honestly snatch the jobs of honest teachers," he warned. "Remember, an injured tiger is more dangerous."
He also urged the teachers not to panic. "You have not received any termination letter. So keep working. We will go for a review petition."
Banerjee reiterated that many of these teachers had gold medals and good educational records. "You call them a thief? You call them unfit? He asked.
Teachers speak
The teachers present in the meeting said that they did not take another exam. They believe that they were elevated impartially and should not be punished for system faults. A teacher said, "We will file a review petition. We will urge the government and the Commission to do so."
The emotional weight of the moment was clear. Many of these teachers worked for years. He earned his place in classes and made his life around these jobs.

What happens now?
The situation has created a deep debate about fairness, responsibility and the future of the education system of West Bengal. On the one hand, the Supreme Court has made it clear that large -scale fraud cannot be ignored. On the other hand, thousands of teachers who had no share in wrongdoing are facing loss of their careers.
Mamta Banerjee has promised to stand by her and push for a clear review. Does the court accept a new petition, it remains to be seen. But for now, the teachers continue to work, holding for hope.
Final thoughts
This is more than a legal battle. It is about the future of thousands of families and the integrity of the education system. The state government has a difficult road. It should balance court orders and fairness with public sentiment. What comes next will shape confidence in the system - and many people's lives gave it their best.
